Thay-En-Da-Ne-Gea Lodge #418 Copper-Colored Neckerchief Slide

Gavin Murdoch sends along a scan of another slide from Thay-En-Da-Ne-Gea Lodge #418 along with his thoughts on its provenance.

The copper metal is black on the reverse and what appears to be copper painted or enameled..  The numbers and lettering is engraved down to the black. There looks like some wearing of the copper which then shows black. I also think that this was issued for the1956 2D conclave which was hosted by 418 at our summer camp Woodworth Lake.  I won’t swear to this but it all fits.

Can anyone else confirm the origins of this slide?

Thay-En-Da-Ne-Gea Lodge #418 also issued a neckerchief, categorized by the Blue Book as the N1 pictured below.

I have heard in the past, that this neckerchief is not truly the N1 from the lodge, but rather the Area 2-D Conclave neckerchief from 1956.

Can anyone shed any light on this issue too?  Hopefully this would include documentation from the Conclave Program or something definitive from the Lodge records.

  1. Hi Bill-
I remembered your post on the two issues mentioned above. I had recent fortune to acquire the neckerchief slide shown above. The collection came from a late 1970’s-early 1980’s #418 member and that of his father (active 1950’s). The neckerchief was absent from the collection but 2D conclave patches from similar years dates the item to the 1950’s (unprompted, the son mentioned the slide belonged to his deceased father). I have no other knowledge about it’s official use. The conlcave tie seems likely and certainly common during that time (and for that lodge). I hope this helps in some very small way.

  2. Oh…and another thought…it is very likely these belong together given what is known (1950’s vintage, “2D” on slide, “Woodworth Lake” on neckerchief…not standard practice for a LODGE event at that time…standard for a CONCLAVE event, and most of all…look at the neckerchief slide…….it matches that on the neckerchief). This hobby is fun.

  3. Ray,

I think it is certainly likely that this was issued in conjunction with the 1956 Area 2-D Conclave. Now was it part of the official issues from the event, a trading post item, made for the host lodge only?

50+ years later can we find that out?
