Section NE-2D 1987 Conclave Update

I had previously written about the 1987 Section NE-2D Conclave, Tom Wadnola had provided the scans, including the neckerchief pictured below.

While cataloging my collection in a usually vain attempt to avoid acquiring duplicates, I realized I had a neckerchief from the 1987 NE-2D Conclave, but it was different.  Instead of Red Piping, there was White Piping on the neckerchief.

Does anyone know the significance of the different colors?  I need the neckerchief with the Red Piping for my collection.

I am also updating the original post with this information.

Patch-L’s New Home

I realize I have been remiss in updating my link to Patch-L.  Patch-L had to move to a new home from the List Serve previously hosted by SUNY Buffalo.  Budget constraints led to the removal of groups which were not affiliated with the University.

It is now a Google Group.  For those who are unfamiliar with Patch-L, here is how they describe themselves.

Patch-L is an internet discussion LIST aimed at furthering the principles of the Scout Oath and Law in the hobby of collecting Scouting’s patches, badges and memorabilia. Subscriptions are free and open to members of Scouting programs associated with the World Organization of Scouting movements. Membership is not automatic, however, and potential subscribers must provide background information that will be reviewed by the list owners who will ultimately determine whether an applicant can join Patch-L.

You can join Patch-L by filling out a short application form.  As of this post, there are over 500 members.

Section NE-2D 1988 Last Conclave

The 1988 Section NE-2D Conclave was the last conclave for this group of lodges. With the Northeast Region OA Realignment, it is the last time the NE-2D designation was used by a Section containing New York Lodges.

The Cocnlave was hosted by Onteroraus Lodge #402 at Henderson Scout Reservation.  To the best of my knowledge, there were two issues for the event.

eBay Giveth and eBay Taketh Away – II

As part of one of its more recent changes, eBay has agaian given and taken away.  I’ve written about the new 30 Day Fixed Price Listings, there is one more wrinle which I had not realized.

It used to be on both unsold Fixed price items and auction, if a relisted item sold, the listing fee was credited back to the seller.  So you only paid one listing fee if it sold the second time around. This is no longer the case for 30 day fixed price items.

Relist Credits Ending for Fixed Price Listings October 22

As you know, we recently reduced Insertion Fees for Fixed Price listings to just 35 cents for a full 30 days, and just 15 cents in Books, Music, Movies & DVDs, and Video Games. As a result, starting October 22 we will no longer be offering Insertion Fees credits when Fixed Price items are relisted. Credits will still be issued for unpaid items and are now being extended to single quantity Store Inventory Format listings if there is an unpaid item. Note that relist credits for Auction-style listings will continue.

U S Mint to Produce BSA Silver Dollars

The Boy Scouts of America Centennial Commemorative Coin Act (H.R. 5872) passed in both the House and the Senate, and has been officially signed into law by the president. The bill was first introduced by Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX) last April. Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) championed the bill in the United States Senate.

From the Press Release:

DALLAS, October 16, 2008—President Bush recently signed into law the Boy Scouts of America Centennial Commemorative Coin Act (H.R. 5872) which authorizes the minting of 350,000 silver dollar coins in recognition of BSA’s 100th Anniversary in 2010.  Only two commemorative coins are selected for U.S. Mint production each year, and minting of the coins for 2010 will occur between February 8, 2010 and January 1, 2011.  For each coin sold, there is a $10 surcharge – representing a $3,500,000 donation – that will be made available to local councils in the form of grants for the extension of Scouting in hard to serve areas.

Section NE-2A 1986 Conclave

The 1986 Section NE-2A Conclave was hosted by Wakpominee Lodge #48 and held at Camp Wakpominee. The Theme for the Conclave was Build Upon the Fire.  I am aware of two issues for this event,  a pocket patch
