All I want for Christmas…Patch Collecting Supplies
The gift giving and receiving season is fast approaching, and if you don’t find your most sought after patch under the Christmas tree, here are some ideas to help organize and protect your collection.
One source IÂ use for supplies for storing and displaying my patch and neckerchief collection is
They have many items which can be hard to find at your local sports card store including:
-
Card stock certified acid free in a variety of sizes
BCW says that “The BCW Pro 6-Pocket page is an acid free archival quality product that is perfect for storing tall or widevision trading cards (or standard size Flaps and CSP’s…editor). This product features high clarity polypropylene and top loading pockets with strong welds. BCW Pro 6-Pocket pages fit all standard 3-ring binders and albums.”
Most of the pages are available in quantities of 25 or 100. The price point for 100 pages is currently $18.00
Shipping is free on orders over $100.00
I use these pages and binders to store my collection and try to place one large order each year to take advantage of the free shipping offer. These pages have served me well, and to me are as good as Ultra-Pro.
They offer a full line of supplies for most of your other collecting needs.

Starship Troopers?!!
Well its not Starship Troopers quite yet but a Sarcos Exoskeleton.
Two-hundred pound pulldowns are easy; you can lift 70 pound ammunition cases endlessly. You can run in the suit, and walk up stairs, all carrying heavy loads.
Although the model shown in the video is tethered by power lines, future models will carry battery backpack power. The Sarcos exoskeleton is also designed to carry on without its human wearer in an autonomous mode. Also, the company is designing the exoskeleton with different kinds of armored coverings.
Watch the video and learn more about it here.

Unlisted Northeast Region OA Patch
I have written about a resource for Northeast Region OA issues maintained by Dave Scocca. While preparing items for the Shu Shu Gah Lodge TOR a couple of weeks back, I got into a discussion of these issues with Ian Pinnavaia. Ian, who was the Northeast Region Chief in 2003, mentioned that there was a patch not on Dave’s list.
Apparently when Ian was Region Chief, there was not an National OA event that summer. The Region, created a patch similar to the OA R3 (from Dave’s site) , but with a Silver Mylar border for Ian to distribute at the various events he attended. You can see it below, I guess it would be the OA R4.

Buckskin Lodge #412 Wulihan Chapter X2
Brian Petrowski brings word of a new chapter issue from Buckskin Lodge #412 Wulihan Chapter. This is only the second issue from Wulihan. The first was issued about 10 years ago. The basic design of the patch is similar to the design of the earlier issue (X1).
