Report from the Shu Shu Gah Lodge #24 12th Annual TOR

Trade-O-Ree

We can now close the books on the twelfth annual Shu Shu Gah Lodge #24 TOR. It is was held yesterday on November 17, 2007 on a brisk fall day in Orbach Arena at Camp Alpine.

The Camp had cut back on the amount of space available to us as the climbing wall was in use all day. While this made for some cramped quarters, we had a full room with a good amount of walk in traffic.

Western New York (Buffalo)TOR Report and discovery

Marty Abramson gave the following report on the Buffalo TOR from this past weekend.

Well, It is done for another year. We did OK, the attendance Saturday left some to be desired but we did have fun and I did hear that a few folks found something that they were looking for. The Auction did well and many real bargains were had by many. That Cub Scout spent a lot of his Dad’s money. And enjoyed the chance to outbid the big boy’s.

I guess the news of the weekend was a patch on the blanket. At least 5 different members of Lodge me included were surprised to see a previously unknown Chapter issue from our Ellicott Chapter. So for you NY Collectors “once again into the breach.” I have sent a photo of the patch to John Pannell to add to the site. BTW the Blanket was the high bid item on the auction and I think it will get parted out.

I was in attendance myself and can attest that the boys from Western NY put on a nice TOR. Would have like a bit more attendance, but I found a few needs made a few discoveries (which you’ll be seeing in upcoming posts) and renewed acquaintances and got a bargain in the auction (but the blanket was too rich for me).

My thanks to the Frietags, Marty, Dave Z, Harry, Don Izard and anyone I’ve missed for making this Southern New Yorker welcome as usual.

Report from the Central New York TOR

Last weekend was the 4th Annual Central New York TOR, held in Camp Woodlands last Saturday.  The proceeds from the Tradeoree help support the William Hillcourt Scout Museum in that Camp. Unfortunately the Museum was closed, but the good news is it was closed due to the current expansion  and should reopen in the fall.

I have not been able to attend the TOR’s at Camp Woodland since they moved to June a few years ago, so this was an opportunity for me to catch up with some old friends that I see to infrequently.

The TOR had about 20 +/- tables, and include Bob and Vicki Burt, Steve Austin, Mike Hinman, Ray Gould, Scott Bracken, John Reed, Frank and Lyman and several others.  Traffic was modest, but a few trades and sales were made including a few items which will show up as posts over the next few days.

Thanks to Dick Krzyiewski and the museum crew for hosting the TOR, I’ll be putting on my calendar for next year.
