Area 2-H 1959 Conclave Neckerchief

ConclaveThe 1959 Area 2-H Conclave was hosted by Ganeodiyo Lodge #417.  To the best of my knowledge (and that of the OACH by Dingwerth and Jensen), the only memoribilia issued for the event is the neckerchief listed below.

If anyone is aware of any other items issued for this conclave, please send along a scan.

Ganeodiyo Lodge #417 S1a and S1b varieties

One of the new variations in Blue Book VI was the addition of an a and b varieties to the Ganeodiyo Lodge S1. Many of the Blue Book VI variations, at least for the NY Lodges were the result of Bill Tpokis and Jeff Morely comparing and inventorying their collections, prior to the sale to the International Scouting Museum in Las Vegas.

Bill and Jeff discovered a variation in the first solid flap from Ganeodiyo. The lettering of the lodge name (and number) was in two different shades of blue. Held side by side, the difference is clear. Although the lettering in the S1b is described as Dark Blue, to me it is darker than the S1a, but not a dark blue.

Here are the pair scanned together. The top flap is the S1a, the bottom the S1b.

Does anyone have the pair with a more distinct color difference?

Ganeodiyo Lodge #417 2006 NOAC S24 Variation

In a comment on an earlier post, Matthew Crance noted:

If you notice there is no lodge # on the top half of the flap. If you look closely after Ganeodiyo Lodge on the top half you will see that there is a black 17, which used to be white. Ganeodiyo Lodge is 417. This was the manufactures mistake and the patches were sent back to be corrected but the manufacture made us a deal that they would just paint over it with a special kind of fabric black paint that would not come off and they cut 20% off our cost. There were 100 patches made of both top and bottom. 90 were sent back to be corrected because 10 were already sold. I don’t know if this would mean a different classification but there are 10 patches out there that still have the 17 in white.

I think this calls for an “a” and “b” variation of the S24.

Here you can see the two flaps:

On my monitor, you can discern something after Lodge on the bottom flap. here is a close-up with the brightness cranked up.

YMMV, as with any variation, collect it if you choose.
