Discovery – Half Moon Lodge #28 Fake of S15 – ZS3

I recently became aware of a fake of the Half Moon Lodge #28 Executive Board flap the S15. The S15 is a White Ghost with a Black Border. The fake, designated the ZS3 appears to an un-bordered version of the S14 with a crude black border added. The real S15 is pictured on top and the ZS3 on the bottom.

Look Back – Man-A-Hattin Lodge #82 Fake ZS3

A Look Back

Nearly six years ago I wrote about what was than a newly discovered fake from Man-A-Hattin Lodge #82.

The flap is computer designed version of the Manahattin Lodge #82 F1 or S1, and is of much better quality than the recent batch of “modern fakes” on eBay.

Both John Pannell and Bob McCanless have both weighed in on the subject of fakes from two different points of view. Although neither of them are in favor of fakes. Take the time to read them,

“Corruption, like a cancer … eats faster and faster every hour. The revenue creates pensioners, and the pensioners urge for more revenue. The people grow less steady, spirited, and virtuous, the seekers more numerous and more corrupt, and every day increases the circles of their dependents and expectants, until virtue, integrity, public spirit, simplicity, and frugality become the objects of ridicule and scorn, and vanity, luxury, floppery, selfishness, meanness, and downright venality swallow up the whole of society.” – President John Adams

Update – Ho-Nan-Ne-Ho-Ont Lodge #165 2010 National Jamboree Private Issue ZS1

I had previously written about a 2-piece set issued for the 2010 National Jamboree by Ho-Nan-Ne-Ho-Ont Lodge #165. The design is their Heron Man with tattoos of the totems of the 3 predecessor lodges on its arm. I also wrote about another 2010 Jamboree issue apparently from Ho-Nan-Ne-Ho-Ont Lodge #165.

If you look closely at this flap, the three predecessor lodge totems appear on this flap as well.

I received word from the Council Executive that this was not an authorized Lodge issue, and should not be considered as such. It will be listed as a Z – a Fake or Private Issue.

While I did update the original post to reflect this, I wanted to post it as a new post as well so it would be seen by all.

Man-A-Hattin Lodge #82 newly discovered Fake ZS3

Fake At the Lodge #2 TOR this weekend, I acquired a new fake from one of the other table-holders. He had acquired it himself at a TOR several months back. The individual I acquired it from has a long history in buying and selling memorabilia and is not known for dealing in these types of patches.

The flap is computer designed version of the Manahattin Lodge #82 F1 or S1, and is of much better quality than the recent batch of “modern fakes” on eBay.
