Section NE-3 1988(?) Training Round

Frank Rickenbaugh sent along this image asking if it belonged to the 1988 Section NE-3 Conclave as it was the only year NE-3 was used rather that NE-3A.

My recollection was Mark Belli was involved with its production when he was either Section Chief or Section Training Chairman prior to his time as Northeast Region Chief.

Section NE-3 1988 Conclave Pocket Patch

ConclaveHere is another image from Tom Wadnola, this one from the Section NE-3 1988 Section Conclave.

The conclave was hosted by Man-a-hattin Lodge #82 and held at Camp Keowa, Ten Mile River Scout Camps. The theme was Fan the Spark of Brotherhood.

While not part of the official program it was also the site of a fabled BBQ party which is still talked about when the selected attendees get together.

Section NE-2C 1988 Conclave Neckerchief

Been a busy couple of weeks, but I wanted to start listing some of my acquisitions from the TOR in Rochester on March 27.

The first item is a 1988 NE-2C Conclave Neckerchief.  I had previously written about this conclave, but did not have an image of the neckerchief.

The OA Section List shows the following lodges were members on NE-2C:

  • Ty-Ohni Lodge #95

  • Ho-De-No-Sau-Nee Lodge #159
  • Amo’chk Lodge #339
  • Tuighaunock Lodge #409
  • Ganeodiyo Lodge #417

I’ll add the image to my original posting too.

Section NE-2D 1988 Last Conclave

The 1988 Section NE-2D Conclave was the last conclave for this group of lodges. With the Northeast Region OA Realignment, it is the last time the NE-2D designation was used by a Section containing New York Lodges.

The Cocnlave was hosted by Onteroraus Lodge #402 at Henderson Scout Reservation.  To the best of my knowledge, there were two issues for the event.

A pocket patch, with the design of the 402R1 in it.

Section NE-2A 1988 Conclave Issues

The 1988 NE-2A conclave was hosted by Sisilija Lodge #19 and held at Camp Boyhaven. There were at least three items issued for the event.  A pocket patch, a neckerchief and a jacket patch.

The neckerchief had a patch of the same design as the pocket patch, however it is slightly smaller and most noticeable, the 1988 is a much smaller typeface:

Section NE-3 1988 Indian Seminar

Question Mark?Roy Whetherbee asked a question on Patch-L last week.

I have a few mystery patched that I’m hoping someone out there may be able to identify… 1987 Indian Seminar WWW. There was a National Indian Seminar held that year – perhaps this was a contingent piece? Would anybody know which lodge or chapter?

As it happens, I do know at least some of the history on that patch.

Here is the story as I know it.
Northeast Region Indian Seminar Back in 1987 there was an NE Region Indian Seminar (the real issue is pictured on the right).

Someone (lodge, individual, section officer?) ordered the patches pictured below on speculation for the event. They were not used.

In 1988, Section NE3 held and Indian Seminar at Camp Alpine and used these patches. There were two, a yellow border and a red border. One was for staff the other for participants.
I was on staff for the event (taught a couple of sessions on the Ordeal Ceremony I think) and have both the yellow and the red borders.
Since you have a single red one, I’m guessing the yellow was staff. My faulty memory can not remember for sure which was which.

Does anyone know which was the staff issue? Or supply any additional information on the patches and the event.
