Area 2-G 1961 Conclave Staff Neckerchief?

I had previously written about the 1961 Area 2-G Conclave which was held at Camp Russell and hosted by Kamargo Lodge #294.

Gary Moshier, just came across what may be a Staff neckerchief issued for the event. At the least it is a second variety. One Color is Blue and the other Color is Black

The original neckerchief I posted has a blue silkscreened arrows and WWW in addition to a larger version of the patch sewn to it. The pocket path is a three inch round. The patch on the neckerchief is almost an oval approximately 3 7/8 inches by 4 1/8 inches tall.

Gary’s version

The black one I have looked very closely at and it has not washed and faded I do believe there was a Black Border and a Blue Border possibly making the Black Border a Staff

Area 2-G 1961 Conclave Staff Neckerchief?

I don’t know if it is a staff version, does anyone have more information?

This is a need of mine if anyone has one available.

Were there any other items issued for this event?

Kamargo Lodge #294 Neckerchief Slides

I had previously written about a carved wooden neckerchief slide for Karmargo Lodge #294.  I had heard that there were at least two varieties of this slide.  Of course being handmade, there will be a number of minor variations.

Here is the one I previously posted.

Kamargo Lodge #294 Slide Farm Neckerchief Slide

I picked up the two slides myself below.

Pair Kamargo Lodge #294 Neckerchief Slides

The slide on the left is about half an inch taller than the one on the right.

If you compare the two slides to the one pictured above, there seem to be at least 3 varieties. While both the top and left chipmunks have 2 stripes, the position of the top leg is different on them. The one on the bottom right has 3 stripes.

Order of the White Swastika – Camp Russell part two

Looks like the seller has a second swastika of similar design from the Order of the White Swastika from Camp Russell.

Just a bit over two days left as I post this.

Clicking on the image will bring you to the auction for the next few months.

Where will this one wind up?

NY Pre-OA Honor Society – Order Of The White Swastika

Ray Gould sends along a link to a recent eBay auction and a few links which help explain the item. It was a patch for the Order of the White Swastika from Camp Russel New York.

The seller posted to one of the eBay forums and got this reply:

In the 1930’s a new organization replaced the Order of Ka Mar Go at Camp Russell. the Order of the White Swastika. This was another organization based upon the traditions of the American Indian, the swastika being an ancient Indian symbol. This organization, like the orders of Kon-e-on-ca and Ka Mar Go, was for outstanding scouts at Camp Russell. As the 1930’s progressed and the symbol of the swastika became more and more degraded by Nazi Germany, the Camp Russell honor society again became known as Ka Mar Go.

Ray did some further digging and the quote seems to have come from here.

The US Scouting Service project also speaks to the society.

Clicking on the image will bring you to the auction results.

There were 13 unique bidders on this item.  Two in it at over $ 1,000.

Ray also provides a link to Sports Illustrated of all places which has an article on the Society.

This was in the mid-1930s, when I was 17, and most of us, in our youthful innocence, still regarded the swastika as an American Indian symbol. The emblem of the Order of the White Swastika was the equivalent of the Congressional Medal of Honor for the scouts who went to Camp Russell in Woodgate, N.Y. A scout had to be somebody special, to do something truly outstanding in the judgment of his leaders and his peers, before he was voted into the order. When a boy had proved himself, and had gone through the order’s solemn initiation, he felt that he had accomplished something really worthwhile.

Kamargo Lodge #294 P1

Two separate auctions for a Kamargo Lodge #294 P1 recently ended on eBay for similar amounts. I’ve always thought the 294 Pie was a great example of the many good looking pies from this era.

Clicking on the auction will bring you to the results for the next few months.
The bidding was spirited on this one, with an opening bid of only $ 0.99.

A second auction for the pie patch ended only a day later.

Clicking on the image will bring you to the auction results.
This one started for a much higher price, but still found a similar level.
