Look Back – Man-A-Hattin Lodge #82 Spring Weekend eL1963-3

Back in January 2007, I posted about a previously unlisted Man-A-Hattin Lodge #82 event patch, which was issued for their Spring Weekend in 1963.

Section NE-3 1988 Conclave Pocket Patch

ConclaveHere is another image from Tom Wadnola, this one from the Section NE-3 1988 Section Conclave.

The conclave was hosted by Man-a-hattin Lodge #82 and held at Camp Keowa, Ten Mile River Scout Camps. The theme was Fan the Spark of Brotherhood.

While not part of the official program it was also the site of a fabled BBQ party which is still talked about when the selected attendees get together.

The lodges in Section NE-3 at the time were:

  • Ranachqua Lodge #4
  • Ktemaque Lodge #15
  • Shu-Shu-Gah Lodge #24
  • Half Moon Lodge #28
  • Suanhacky Lodge #49
  • Skanondo Lodge #64
  • Man-A-Hattin Lodge #82
  • Aquehongian Lodge #112
  • Shinnecock Lodge #360
  • Buckskin Lodge #412
  • Nooteeming Lodge #443
  • Munsi Lodge #444
  • Yokahú Lodge #506
  • Arawak Lodge #562

To the best of my knowledge, this was the only issue from that Conclave. If anyone has information on any other issues from this conclave, let me know.

You can find links to other conclaves on my NYS Section Conclave page.

Update March 2017:
Mia Hubbert sends along an image of a pin which was issued for the conclave.

Update May 2021:
Frank Rickenbaugh sent along this image asking if it belonged to the 1988 Section NE-3 Conclave as it was the only year NE-3 was used rather that NE-3A.

My recollection was Mark Belli was involved with its production when he was either Section Chief or Section Training Chairman prior to his time as Northeast Region Chief.

Can anyone else confirm when this patch was issued?

Look Back – Man-A-Hattin Lodge #82 Fake ZS3

A Look Back

Nearly six years ago I wrote about what was than a newly discovered fake from Man-A-Hattin Lodge #82.

The flap is computer designed version of the Manahattin Lodge #82 F1 or S1, and is of much better quality than the recent batch of “modern fakes” on eBay.

Both John Pannell and Bob McCanless have both weighed in on the subject of fakes from two different points of view. Although neither of them are in favor of fakes. Take the time to read them,

“Corruption, like a cancer … eats faster and faster every hour. The revenue creates pensioners, and the pensioners urge for more revenue. The people grow less steady, spirited, and virtuous, the seekers more numerous and more corrupt, and every day increases the circles of their dependents and expectants, until virtue, integrity, public spirit, simplicity, and frugality become the objects of ridicule and scorn, and vanity, luxury, floppery, selfishness, meanness, and downright venality swallow up the whole of society.” – President John Adams
