Ray Gould sends along some more suggestions for identifying the Adirondack Lodge S4 varieties.\u00c2\u00a0 The Blue Book currently describes them as follows:<\/p>\n

S4a \u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 DYL R GRN ROR fine EMB bkgd; BRN beaver<\/p>\n

S4b \u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 DYL R GRN RED segmented bkgd; DBR beaver; MVE– colors<\/p>\n

S4c \u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 DYL R GRN RED segmented bkgd; BRN beaver<\/p>\n

If you don’t have all three in front of you, it is difficult to tell which is which.\u00c2\u00a0 What is a segmented background anyway?<\/p>\n

Ray’s suggestions involve the differences in the ‘eye’ of the beaver.<\/p>\n

S-04a (beaver has embroidered eye)<\/font>
\nS-04b (beaver has dimple\/small white spot for eye…base material shows through)<\/font>
\nS-04c (beaver has no eye)<\/font><\/p>\n

What are your thoughts?\u00c2\u00a0 While still not the easiest variations to identify, I think adding Ray’s comments on the eyes should aid in identification.<\/p>\n
