{"id":2437,"date":"2008-11-16T17:05:43","date_gmt":"2008-11-16T21:05:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nyoatrader.com\/blog\/?p=2437"},"modified":"2008-11-12T20:11:35","modified_gmt":"2008-11-13T00:11:35","slug":"ebay-improved-paypal-seller-protection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nyoatrader.com\/blog\/2008\/11\/16\/ebay-improved-paypal-seller-protection\/","title":{"rendered":"eBay &#8211; Improved PayPal Seller Protection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nyoatrader.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/01\/logoebay_x45.gif\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"left\" title=\"Ebay Logo\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nyoatrader.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/01\/logoebay_x45.gif?resize=110%2C45\" alt=\"\" width=\"110\" height=\"45\" \/><\/a>I&#8217;ve written previously on the changes <a href=\"http:\/\/ads.shoppingads.com\/pagead\/link_d77108bbdf253f711bda_4ad9cd673c12ac5dd6bc59ad401622ce_www.ebay.com\" target=\"top\">eBay<\/a> has made, requiring some form of &#8220;paperless payment.&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 One of the issues some sellers have had with PayPal has been the possibility of charge backs from buyers claiming that they did not receive their merchandise.<\/p>\n<p>No while I believe that this is less of a problems with Scouts and Scouters, it is a major issue in other collectible areas.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www2.ebay.com\/aw\/core\/200810271324542.html\" target=\"_self\">eBay<\/a> and PayPal have addressed this with an updated <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paypal.com\/cgi-bin\/webscr?cmd=xpt\/UserAgreement\/ua\/USUA-outside#spp-policy\" target=\"_self\">Seller Protection Policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>11.1 What is PayPal seller protection? <\/strong>Protection for Claims, Chargebacks, or Reversals based on the following reasons:\n<ul>\n<li>Unauthorized Payment<\/li>\n<li>Item Not Received<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Seller protection is available for transactions with buyers everywhere PayPal is accepted. Seller protection does not provide protection for Significantly Not as Described (SNAD) Claims, Chargebacks, or Reversals or for items that you deliver in person.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>No their is a catch of course:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>11.3 What happens when a buyer files a Claim, Chargeback, or Reversal?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>PayPal will place a temporary hold on the funds in your account to cover the full amount of the Claim, Chargeback, or Reversal. If PayPal determines that the payment is covered by seller protection, we will release the hold and restore your access to the funds.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>What are the requirements:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<ul>\n<li>Ship the item to the shipping address on the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Transaction Details\u00e2\u20ac\u009d page.\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>You may access the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Transactions Details\u00e2\u20ac\u009d page by logging into your PayPal Account, selecting \u00e2\u20ac\u0153History\u00e2\u20ac\u009d and then selecting \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Details\u00e2\u20ac\u009d for the transaction.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Follow the shipping requirements described below.<\/li>\n<li>Respond to PayPal\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s requests for documentation and other information in a timely manner.<\/li>\n<li>The transaction must be marked eligible or partially eligible for seller protection on the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Transaction Details\u00e2\u20ac\u009d page.\n<ul type=\"circle\">\n<li>If it is marked eligible, protection for both Unauthorized Payments and Item Not Received will apply. If it is marked partially eligible, protection for only Item Not Received will apply.<\/li>\n<li>Items sold on eBay will be marked eligible even if the shipping address is marked unconfirmed.
