{"id":230,"date":"2006-03-29T21:58:49","date_gmt":"2006-03-30T02:58:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nyoatrader.com\/blog\/?p=230"},"modified":"2006-03-29T21:58:49","modified_gmt":"2006-03-30T02:58:49","slug":"another-scouting-blog-and-podcast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nyoatrader.com\/blog\/2006\/03\/29\/another-scouting-blog-and-podcast\/","title":{"rendered":"Another Scouting Blog and Podcast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What is a Podcast?<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Podcast\">As Wikipedia<\/a> describes it &#8220;<strong>Podcasting<\/strong> is the distribution of audio or video files, such as radio programs or music videos, over the <a title=\"Internet\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Internet\">Internet<\/a> using either <a title=\"RSS (file format)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/RSS_%28file_format%29\">RSS<\/a> or <a title=\"Atom (standard)\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Atom_%28standard%29\">Atom<\/a> <a title=\"Web syndication\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Web_syndication\">syndication<\/a> for listening on mobile devices and personal computers. The term <strong>podcast<\/strong>, like &#8220;<a title=\"Radio\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Radio\">radio<\/a>&#8220;, can mean both the content and the method of delivery. Podcasters&#8217; websites also may offer direct download of their files, but the subscription feed of automatically delivered new content is what distinguishes a podcast from a simple download or real-time <a title=\"Streaming media\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Streaming_media\">streaming<\/a> (see below). Usually, the podcast features one type of &#8220;show&#8221; with new episodes either sporadically or at planned intervals such as daily, weekly, etc.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On his blog, Ben Killen describes it as &#8220;At the risk of oversimplification, a podcast is an audio show that is instantly distributed through the internet\u00e2\u20ac\u201dto computers and portable music devices around the world. Think of it as a traditional radio talk-show that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s transmitted by way of the internet instead of radio waves.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ben has created what to my knowledge is the first Patch Collecting-related podcast.\u00c2\u00a0 It can be found at <a title=\"ClothTalk\" href=\"http:\/\/www.scouthistory.net\/blog\/\">Clothtalk\u00c2\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Take a wander over and take a listen.\u00c2\u00a0 The first podcast is up on a variety of topics; &#8220;topics include OA Section Conclaves, Ebay: The world\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Trade-O-Ree, 1950 National Jamboree OA Service Corps arm band, Patch trading and collecting for the beginner, and the $71,000 1947 World Jamboree subcamp patch. including &#8220;.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What is a Podcast?
