So what is your favorite or most cherished item in you collection?<\/p>\n

Ray Gould sends along a couple of scans and a bit of the back story. As Ray tells it:<\/p>\n

The 1987 handmade neckerchief slide (conclave held at Camp Woodland) was a piece handmade and woodburned by a Scoutmaster from Syracuse named Joe Vendetti (deceased). At the time, I was 16 year old Scout, and remember not being particularly impressed with the slide. It was after his passing that I truly fully appreciated the item for what it was. A creation by a dedicated Scouting volunteer for the benefit of fellow brothers (it is one of the favorite items in my collection!….as well as the even more crude 1990 conclave slide created by same Scouter).<\/span><\/p>\n

The 1990 slide (conclave held at Camp Portaferry) was also handmade by Mr. Vendetti. When he handed it to me, I remember him explaining that he had been unable to spend the required time like the 1987 slide but had committed to making them and delivered! As above, this slide has become one of my favorite pieces in my collection because it triggers the memory of a dedicated Scouter who modeled cheerful service. <\/span><\/p>\n
