Massachusetts BSA Council Merger

I’m not sure why I was on the distribution, but I received a notice that:

both the Great Trails Council and the Pioneer Valley Council have voted to approve the proposed consolidation of our two councils. The combined ballots totaled 96 in favor and 10 opposed.

We truly are excited about this opportunity to better serve the youth of all of western Massachusetts

The official name of our new council will be decided this summer, and we are open to
suggestions. In addition, we will be holding a design contest among our youth members
in the near future for our new Council Shoulder Patch, so get your Scout artists ready.

If the usual practice is followed, it would seem that this is the last year for Allogagan Lodge #83 and Memsochet Lodge # 507. Typically, once the merger is official, the OA Lodges can finish out their current years as separate entities, but cannot recharter.

More information if/when it becomes available.
