An auction recently ended on eBay entitled : Thay-En-Da-Ne-Gea LODGE 418 OA CANDIDATE LEATHER N/C SLIDE picturing the leather slide shown below. There was no indication that the slide was actually issued by Lodge #418.

I contacted Gavin M. a long time member of the lodge and who owned a complete Nick Stoner and Thay-En-Da-Ne-Gea Lodge #418 collection. HE advised that he had nver seen that slide nor has any other 418 members he checked with.

Does anyone have any further information on this slide?

It sold for the Buy It Now Price of $ 27.95.

Area 2-D 1972 Conclave Neckerchief – White Piping

Gary Moshier sends along an image of a 1972 Area 2-D Conclave Neckerchief with White Piping. The one usually seen has no piping but otherwise looks the same. The conclave was hosted by Thay-En-Da-Ne-Gea Lodge #418 and held at Woodworth Lake Scout Reservation.

Gary speculates that this may be a staff issue.

Do any of the old Thay-En-Da-Ne-Gea Lodge #418 members have information on this version (or have one available for trade or sale)?

Gavin Murdoch advised:

I believe the white piping ones were issued to our members 418 who worked at the event. I did not work it and I have a plain blue border one.

I’ll add this image to the original posting with the standard Area 2-D 1972 Conclave neckerchief.

State of the Hobby – OA Lodge 418 Nick Stoner 1948 slide

A neckerchief slide attributed to Nick Stoner Lodge #418 recently ended on eBay. The Blue Book shows a charter year of 1949 for the Lodge, but they certainly could have been meeting before the charter date. Can anyone confirm the provenance of this slide?

Look Back – Thay-En-Da-Ne-Gea Lodge #418 Oddity

Eight years ago in July 2007, I was posting about a recently uncovered an oddity from Thay-En-Da-Ne-Gea Lodge #418.

It looks like all of the red thread has been replaced by a cream or manila colored thread with maybe a bit of pink in it. In addition to the BSA, 418 and the WWW, the arrow is also cream colored. After comparing it to the scans on OAImages, I do not believe that it is a mis-colored vigil flap. For it to be a mis-colored Vigil flap, a second mistake would have to have been made with the border color thread as well.

Anyone else ever seen one like this?

Section NE-2A 1979 Conclave

Time to update and replace my original post on the 1979 NE-2A Conclave. It is now almost nine years old, and I have been able to obtain so new images (and the items for my collection).

The 1979 NE-2A Conclave was hosted by Thay-En-Da-Ne-Gea Lodge #418. As far as I know, there were three items issued for the conclave, a pocket patch:

Section NE-2A 1979 Conclave Pocket Patch

Section NE-2A 1979 Conclave Pocket Patch

A neckerchief on White cloth:

Section NE-2A 1979 Conclave WHT Neckerchief

Section NE-2A 1979 Conclave WHT Neckerchief

and a neckerchief on Blue cloth. This one seems to be harder to find, I suspect it is a staff or host lodge version. Can anyone confirm the reason for the two colors?

Section NE-2A 1979 Conclave Staff Neckerchief?

Section NE-2A 1979 Conclave Staff Neckerchief?

According to Rob Higgens OA Section list, the following lodges were in Section NE-2A:

  • Sisilija Lodge #19
  • Wakpominee Lodge #48
  • Nischa Nimat Lodge #181
  • Ta-Oun-Ya-Wat-Ha Lodge #268
  • Loon Lodge #364
  • Onteroraus Lodge #402
  • Thay-En-Da-Ne-Gea Lodge #418

Is anyone aware of any other issues for this conclave?

Nick Stoner Lodge #418 A1

An auction recently ended on eBay for a Nick Stoner Lodge #418 A1.  This is the only issue from the long merged NY OA Lodge.  The auction began at only $ 9.99 and ended 13 bids later at $ 950.00. While this is a respectable amount, it is probably only half or 2/3’s of what it might have gone for a couple of years ago. A sign of these economic times? O=r have all of the deep pocket collectors who were willing to pay $ 1,500+ now have one and it moves down to the next tier who are willing to pay circa $ 1,000.

Clicking on the image will bring you to the auction results for the next few months.

Over the years, I have hear rumors that the Nick Stoner Arrowhead was not issued until after the 1953 name change to Thay-En-Da-Ne-Gea Lodge#418.

Anyone know the real story after all this time?

Of all the enemies to public liberty, war is perhaps the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other.
