Area 2-J 1964 Conclave Pocket Patch

The 1964 Area 2-J Pocket Patch featured the Unisphere from the 1964-1965 New York Worlds Fair as the major element of its design. I’m only aware of this single issue for the event.

Does anyone know of any other issues for the event?

The following lodges were part of the Area 2-J.

  • Shu-Shu-Gah Lodge # 24
  • Suanhacky Lodge #49
  • Man-A-Hattin Lodge #82

I believe lodges 360 and 412 joined 2-J the following year and 506 and 562 even later.

  • Buckskin Lodge #412
  • Yokahú Lodge #506

    Area 2-J 1969 Conclave Patch

To the best of my knowledge, there was only a single pocket patch issued for the 1969 Area 2-J Conclave.

    Area 2-J 1968 Conclave

The 1968 Area 2-J Conclave had two known issues, a pocket patch, and the patch sewn to a plain red neckerchief. The patch had a simple Statue of Liberty design.

    and the neckerchief:

I picked up the neckerchief this summer at the 90th Anniversary of Ten Mile River Scout camps. I had not seen one before. This is sealed in plastic but could have been created by an enterprising scout. Does anyone else have one of these neckerchiefs who can confirm the provenance?

The following lodges were part of the Area 2-J.

    Area 2-J 1963 Conclave Neckerchief

Area- 2-J was formed circa 1957 and was made up of the metro New York City Area Councils. In the early years, they only met every other year. There would not be a conference/conclave in NOAC years.

Below is an example of the neckerchief issued for the 1963 Area 2-J Conclave.

I also understand that there was a leather issued for the event, not sure if it was a slide or pocket patch. Does anyone have either the neckerchief or the leather one available for sale or trade?

    Look Back – Area 2-J 1971 Conclave

Five years ago, I was posting about the 1971 Area 2-J Conclave. Areas predated the current Sections and were in use from circa 1949 to 1972.

I say stealth issue as the pocket patch does not indicate that it was for Area 2-J, does not mention the event nor indicate where it was head.

The arrowhead shaped patch does contain WWW and is dated 1971.

    Area 2-J 1957 Conclave Neckerchief

conclaveGene Berman had done some research on the founding of Area 2-J. His research showed that Area 2-J was organized in 1956 on a experimental basis. In November, 1957 the five GNYC lodges as well as Chappegat 15, Hanigus 47, Shinnecock 360, Buckskin 412 met at Camp Ranachqua, Ten Mile River Scout Camps in Narrowsburg, NY. This appeared to be a one-time event or planning meeting.

There was a neckerchief issued for the event:

Not sure why only the totems for the 5 GNYC lodges appear on the neckerchief.
