Shu Shu Gah Lodge #24 Nakowa Chapter Event Issue?

Here is a previously unlisted event issue from Nakowa Chapter of Shu Shu Gah Lodge #24. Nakowa Chapter covered the Bensonhurst area of Brooklyn and merged in 1979. Now this is not a leather issues, but vinyl or perhaps the hide of the mythical Nauga. Would you list it in the Blue Book?

Assuming it is listed, I would call it:

eX1965 - - BRN WHT - WHT Annual Dinner 50th Anniversary

Shu Shu Gah Lodge #24 Brooklyn Arrowhead eZX2007

Focus on Fakes

In a comment on John Pannell’s blog, Dave Scocca said in a comment that fakes can be broken down into three basic categories.

(1) Patches that are privately issued without authorization, often by a member or members of an existing lodge, which appear to be from a specific lodge but which are relatively distinct in design and appearance from legitimate issues. The Occoneechee ZS4-ZS6 and ZX1 are clear instances of this type.

(2) Privately-created patches intended to resemble specific legitimate issues from current or past lodges. These are unambiguously describable as “fakes”; the classic “Bates Fakes” are a canonical example.

(3) Privately-created patches bearing the name, number, and/or totem of a long-defunct lodge from which there are no legitimate insignia. Cheap programmable embroidery machines have brought a flood of these on eBay.

The patch below, would be a variant on the first type. The Brooklyn Arrowhead describes themselves as “Order of the Arrow Scouts and Scouters that attended Camp Brooklyn, TMR from 1928 thru the 1970’s” They are essentially an alumni group of Scouters and former Scouters and while there ranks contain a number of ex-lodge chiefs and lodge advisors they, as an organization, are not part of Shu Shu Gah Lodge#24. Individually a number of the Arrowhead members do maintain there membership in the Lodge.

Over the years, they have issued several pieces of memorabilia to commemorate their reunion weekend typically held in early September each year.

While there issues are listed under the chapter section of Shu Shu Gah Lodge in the Blue Book, they are not an authorized chapter. (How can they be since there are no youth members.) The Blue books lists them as Y issues, I think Z would be more appropriate.

Since they do use the Blue Heron Totem on their patches, they could be confused with other lodge and chapter issues.
