Kamargo Lodge #294 Ordeal Member R4a & R4b

At the Western New York Traders Association TOR in mid-September, I picked up what I thought would be a couple of dupes of the Kamargo Lodge #294 R4. On closer examination, I realized that there was a previously unlisted twill variation.

The R4, was listed as Twill Left Smooth (TLS). I was holding both a TLS and a TRS patch.

So looks like we need to update the Blue Book listing:
R4 YEL R WHT GRN YEL FDL; “KAMARGO LODGE ORDEAL MEMBER”; CD; CB; TLS

to

R4a YEL R WHT GRN YEL FDL; “KAMARGO LODGE ORDEAL MEMBER”; CD; CB; TLS

Kamargo Lodge #294 Ordeal Member R4a TLS

Kamargo Lodge #294 Ordeal Member R4a TLS

and add a listing for
R4b YEL R WHT GRN YEL FDL; “KAMARGO LODGE ORDEAL MEMBER”; CD; CB; TRS

Kamargo Lodge #294 Ordeal Member R4b TRS

The twill is very smooth on this version, but if you zoom in on the image you can make out some of the twill direction.

At one time, Kamargo Lodge gave these patches out to Ordeal Members and they were not able to get the flap until they became Brotherhood.

Kamargo Lodge #294 Slide Farm Neckerchief Slide

I had previously written about a neckerchief slide from Kamargo Lodge # 294. In the comments I speculated that it could have been done by Roland Flora, but had no confirmation.

At least one version of the Kamargo is in the Roland Flora collection on display at the TMR Museum this summer.

Kamargo Lodge #294 A3 1961 Executive Committee

Back in March 2008, I wrote several posts on the toughest NY OA issues from various lodges.  Ray Gould provided some information on his picks from the old Area 2-G.

One of the issues from Kamargo Lodge #294 that he listed was the 294A3, a 1961 Executive Committee Arrowhead.  One of these recently ended on eBay.

Clicking on the image will bring you to the auction for the next few months.

The seller started this item at only $ 1.00, 18 bids b y 7 distinct bidders drove the price to over $ 225.00 before the hammer came down.

Looking Back – Kamargo Lodge #294 X1.5 and X2

Three years ago, we were discussing the Kamargo Lodge #294 X1.5 and X2.

A while back, Ray Gould had asked for clarifications on several issues relating to Kamargo Lodge #294. I posted on several of these, which you can find by following the links from this page. One I overlooked at the time, was a question regarding the X1.5 and X2.

Kamargo Lodge #294 R2 and X2 on Neckerchief

The X2 has been listed in the Blue Book for some time, it is a cloth arrow sewn to a red neckerchief. They could be removed from the neckerchief and you would have 3 patches; in this case 2 X2’s and an R2. The neckerchief itself, normally has the R2 or R3 sewn to it. The image is an R2 and X2 on the neckerchief.

If you click on the thumbnail, a larger image will open. If you zoom in on the arrow, you can see it is applied to the neckerchief.

Kamargo Lodge #294 R3 and X1.5 on NeckerchiefThe X1.5 is an new addition to Blue Book VI and is described as follows:

294 X1.5 WHT C WHT – – chain stitch arrow worn on NC w/R2

This image is an R3 and X1.5, so the description is inaccurate. It should read on NC w/R2 or R3.

I’m of two minds on this. While the arrows are undeniably different than the X2, they are embroidered on the neckerchief and are not a separate patch and unlike the X2, cannot be removed from the neckerchief.

How would you list it?

Section NE-2B 1980 Conclave

conclaveLast week there was a discussion on Patch-L regarding different types of items issued for Section Conclaves, out side of the regular patches and neckerchiefs.  Ray Gould, once again sends along a couple of items issued for the Section NE-2B 1980 Conclave.

First is a neckerchief slide:
