I recently updated my checklist of all 2009 NOAC issues from New York State Lodges. The only item which does not have a picture is the Ho-De-No-Sau-Nee Lodge #159 Twill left and right variations, although the issue is shown.

Clicking on the image will bring you to the checklist.

My remaining 2009 NOAC needs include Ktemaque 15N3, Half Moon 28S37/X11(GMY), Ho-De-No-Sau-Nee159S45/X21(GRN), Kittan 364S3 (all have images linked on the checklist above.  Anyone have one of my needs?

2010 NYS OA – BSA Centennial Checklist

Since 2010 is the Centennial of the Boy Scouts of America which was founded in 1910, I’ve created a checklist of NYS OA patches issued to commemorate the event.

This checklist will include any New York State OA Issues which commemorated the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.

It will not include any NYS OA issues specifically issued for the 2010 National Jamboree which will be categorized separately. So if it indicates the National Jamboree and the Centennial, it will not be included here, but will be included in the 2010 Jamboree NYS OA checklist .

Clicking on the image above, will bring you to the website.

NYS OA 2008 ArrowCorps5 Checklist

While there weren’t many NYS OA issues for ArrowCorps5 in 2008, I thought I would add a checklist for that event in the style of those issued for other National OA Events.

The five sites for ArrowCorps5 were: Mark Twain National Forest, Missouri; Manti-La Sal National Forest, Utah; George Washington & Jefferson National Forests, Virginia; Shasta-Trinity National Forest, California and Bridger-Teton National Forest, Wyoming.

While there were only a handful of NYS issues, two of them are still needs, the 86S31 and the 159S43.

I am still trying to get a scan or a photo of the issue from Ho-De-No-Sau-Nee Lodge #159.

BSA Council Checklist

Frank Kern recently announced his BSA Council checklist. He described it as

…this document lists all councils that made a CSP. It also lists councils that made other insignia such as RWS type of shoulder patches (i.e. Seattle Area Council), Jamboree Shoulder Patches (i.e. Aurora Council), odd shape council patches (i.e. Central Washington Council), and activity patches (i.e. Wigwam Council).

Clicking on the image above, will bring you to his web site.

He further adds:

The following document is provided to the BSA collecting community as the first example of a council ‘name’ guide. I have listed all known BSA Councils that made a patch, neckerchief, or neckerchief slide. I have also listed the council numbers to uniquely identify organizations with the same charter name. Traditionally, most Council collecting guides place CSPs, CPs, and RWS in separate listings. Each ignored neckerchiefs and activity patches. As a collector of ‘names’, I want ANY exmple from each council, thus the formation of this list. I hope you enjoy it, it took 25 years of collecting to compile.

HARRY YODER’S WABANINGO OA BOOK

Here is another interesting auction from eBay.  What would eb called in book collecting circle’s an Association Copy.

This term, often scoffed at by laymen, is applied to a copy which once belonged to, or was annotated by, the author; which once belonged to someone connected with the author or someone of interest in his own right; or again, and perhaps most interestingly, belonged to someone peculiarly associated with its contents. Its extension to mean any book owned by a famous person can only be excused by establishing some point of real contact, other than the simple fact of possession. The catalogue note will generally explain the nature of the “association”, which may vary from the obvious to the remote.

The Wabaningo Handbook, which could well be considered the first OA Patch Collecting Guide and a precursor to today’s Blue Book.

The copy in the auction, belonged to Harry Yoder, as the seller explains

The year was 1915. Treasure Island’s Senior Patrol Leader was preparing the first candidates for their trip to the south end of the island. It was the beginning of a lifetime membership in the Wimachtendienk W. W. for Harry A. Yoder. Harry was one of the first 25 members of 1915.

Yoder-wabClicking on the image, will bring you to the auction for the next couple of months.

Despite the rough shape, the auction ended at over $ 112 for this interesting piece of OA History.
