Ray Gould pointed out an auction which recently ended on eBay. I’m not sure weather to consider this a Knowledge is Power Item or Oh My god it went for how much!!
The seller started the auction at $4.99, with a description which read “Very old felt patch. 1.50 S&H. Thanks!” Fortunately, he included all of the words which appear on the patch in the auction title. “Very Old Wetassa Lodge 227,U.S. Grant Council Patch”
This was enough to allow those in the know to find the auction. Twenty Three bids later, the item clsoed at $ 9,102.27. There were 6 bidders over $ 2000, 4 of them over $ 5000 and two who slugged it out to over $ 9000.
The seller does not appear to be a regular seller of Scouting items, and his last 100 sales, the highest priced item was $ 132.50 with most items falling in the $ 10 – 50 range.
How would you like to be that seller? With 5 days to go, he knew he had a $ 2,000 sale, with two days left, it was a $ 3,000 sale, and it made the rest in the last 4 hours of the auction.

That was a fun auction to watch. I’m sure the seller went out for a steak the night that one ended…
