Dave,

I know the feeling.

There are any number of pricey New York OA items which I will likely never have unless they are buried in that "Misc Lot of Boy Scout Patches"

John,
The seller certainly knows what he has.

My idea was to use these posts to point out higher priced items to the readers which they might normally not otherwise encounter.

Arming the reader with the knowledge of its worth in the event they ever stumbled across one themselves.

It's a wonderful issue, and a need--but I'm not near ready, willing, or able to lay down that kind of coin.

My collecting fantasy is to be the only eBay bidder on a 12 X1 that someone lists, starting at a buck, with no description other than "YELLOW BIRD PATCH".

With a $2400 starting bid, I think the owner of this piece knows exactly what he has. It's more fun to watch folks who put stuff up with very low bids and then get shocked when it goes for thousands of dollars.

If it's a lot of items with one hidden gem hidden in it, the seller then has to figure out which is the good patch.
